Gateways to Opportunity’s Lifeskill Classes

A joint sponership between Boulder County Housing Authority and Workforce Boulder County, the Gateways Lifeskills classes are free and open to all TANF eligible particpants. Registration is required and childcare and Spanish interpretation will be provided for evening only classes. Please call 720-564-2279 for more information

2008 BCHA Financial Fitness Classes

FSS participants are required to attend the 4 week Financial Fitness course during their first year of participation in FSS. This course is extremely informative and provides skills that can be put to use immediately. Topics include spending, banking & savings, credit, loans, taxes & insurance. Registration is required. VITA Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Sites

Volunteers provide free help to people with basic tax returns, particularly those with low and limited income, individuals with disabilities, and elderly taxpayers.

Free 2008 Longmont Concerts in the Park

Tuesdays at 6:30pm at the Roosevelt Park Pavilion

The Longmont Summer Concert in the Park Series is Back! Enjoy a warm
summer’s evening with family and friends. A unique musical opportunity
right in your own backyard. Recreation Services invites you all to
attend the 2008 Concerts in the Park . All concerts are free, the series
is presented by The City of Longmont. Be sure to bring a blanket or
chair to sit on and enjoy the music. Concerts
begin at 6:30pm with all being held at the
Roosevelt Park Pavilion at 725 8th Ave.

Longs Peak Avenue or on the South side of 8th Ave.

Sign up for the Low-income Energy Assistance Program (LEAP)

LEAP applications will be accepted starting November 1, 2007. You can get a LEAP application over the phone starting on October 15, 2007 and pick them up in person on November 1, 2007. To get an application, go to any Boulder County Department of Social Services (BCDSS) office, or call 866-HEAT-HELP (866-432-8435). Applications must be returned to the Longmont BCDSS office, located at 529 Coffman St., Suite 100, Longmont.


Boulder County Recreation Centers Offer Discounts

The Boulder, Lafayette, Longmont and Louisville Recreation Centers all offer discounts and/or scholarships for residents of their cities who meet their low-income eligibility guidelines. The following include brief summaries of the programs, along with contact information where you can obtain more specific details,
their eligibility requirements and application procedures.

Temple of the Warriors: Rebuilding A Maya Monument

Explores the landmark expedition to restore the Temple of the Warriors at Chichen Itza by the Carnegie Institution in the mid-1920s. It focuses on the experience of two archaeologists, Ann and Earl Morris.

The FSS Career Closet, located at the Woodlands Community Center in Boulder, is continually getting new donations of gently used women’s clothing and shoes in all sizes. The closet is currently full of some really great clothing, so come over to Woodlands today and go shopping for free!

is a nonprofit organization that works to build respectful communities and broaden opportunities for immigrants through language education, cultural exchange and friendship.
They provide:
· Affordable and flexible English classes for adult immigrants, taught by trained volunteers at students’ homes, other nonprofit agencies, and at public buildings.
· Community resource information and workshops on issues such as affordable health care, housing, laws and finances.
· Intercultural exchange, through community social events such as potlucks, fiestas, camping trips and park clean-ups.
